Rabbit, Airplane, Helicopter

The state of Illinois now requires all students entering kindergarten to have an eye exam prior to starting school. Since we have a kindergartner in the fall I took Cameron today for his first eye exam. Instead of the letter eye chart it was pictures of common objects. Cameron did an awesome job and doesn't have to go back for a year. I was afraid the odds were against him since I started wearing glasses in the second grade but he doesn't need any vision correction at this time. He has a slight astigmatism (an imperfect eye curvature) but he may out grow it. It was a strange experience for me as I remember doing my first eye exam when I was probably 7 or 8. A full circle moment. I have a feeling there will be many of these in my future.

  1. When Jordan had his right before kindergarten, we found out that he had 20/60 and 20/80 vision in his eyes. We felt like the worst parents for not knowing this, but he never really was hampered by it!

  3. When I finally went to the eye dr. in 2nd grade it was because a nurse sent home a note telling my parents I need to. I had told my Mom that I couldn't see the board and she told me it was because I was short and needed to sit closer to the front. She felt awful when the note came home! I remind her of it from time to time! :)
